InterMountain Service & Repair

We are no longer able to accept returns for non-warranty repairs. This includes, but is not limited to; sound upgrades, decoder CV programming, the repair of any item that may have gotten damaged or broken from handling or operation, etc. If you are unsure if your issue is a warranty repair, contact us first.
Non-warranty items received may be returned without any work done.

Cab Forwards are not accepted without prior authorization. Please contact us before sending in a Cab Forward for ANY reason. Cab Forwards received without authorization may be returned without any work done. Click the Return Form button below to print our repair return form. Please fill out the form and include it with the item(s) you are sending in. If you need more space, you can use the back or separate sheets.

If you cannot print the form, include a typed or handwritten (PRINT PLEASE!) note describing the issue along with your contact information including your full name, return address, telephone number, and email address (if applicable).

Our service techs will get your item taken care of promptly and returned to you. Ship your item with any carrier that is convenient for you and that will provide a tracking method for your shipment. Please do NOT purchase any insurance for your item.

IMPORTANT: Please pack your item(s) carefully in their complete original InterMountain box and put the original InterMountain box in an outer cardboard box with proper fill material around it so as to prevent damage during shipment. Any product not returned in the complete original packaging or in an outer cardboard box will be subject to a repair fee if damaged!

We only warranty original factory installed DCC decoders: QSI Q1a (ID 113), SoundTraxx Original Tsunami Sound & Non-Sound (ID 141), and ESU LokPilot and ESU LokSound Select (ID 151). We do not warranty, test, program, or otherwise work on any aftermarket, non-original factory installed, DCC decoders. Any locomotive sent to us for repair with an aftermarket decoder as determined by us, will have the decoder removed prior to any repair work done on the locomotive and returned to you (not installed) with the locomotive once any repairs are completed. Repairs completed are to ensure the locomotive operates properly as originally produced.

NOTE: We are currently running 4-7 weeks on any item(s) returned to us for repair. While we always do our best to get customer repairs done as quickly as possible, we ask for your patience.

If you are having DCC related issues with your locomotive, check our DCC Assistance page before sending the locomotive in. A solution to your issue may be addressed to save you from having to send your locomotive in.
